Rambling

In the Lake District it's called fell walking. In the Peak District it's called rambling. It's just as glorious here as it was there and it's how we spent the day yesterday.

About a 3 minute walk from our B and B:

And the big hike

Victoria pointing to our goal.

On the ridge. Notice the flagstones that take us to the top. I expected to find a tea room once we got there.

The view from the summit.

Also at the summit. These fellows appeared to be making a rap music video at the time.

It was another fantastic hike - probably the last one of the trip :( .
With all that hiking I could afford (I hope!) the dinner I ate: chicken, ham, cheese on a ciabatta bun and mint choc chip ice cream.

After dinner we wandered around Castleton and investigated the church which is about 50 yards from our bedroom.

Turns out that the church is a Norman church dating back to 1086. The arch above is one of the original Norman parts. (As you can see from the first picture, the church was extensively rebuilt in the 19th century but some of the oldest parts remain).
